Ried Schildten Blaufränkisch DAC 2021
Ried Schildten Blaufränkisch DAC 2021
This Blaufränkisch delights with aromas of black cherry, tobacco, licorice, and black pepper. The powerful and multi-layered wine finishes with a long, mineral finish.
The vines grow on shell limestone and mica schist on a south-facing slope. The advanced age of the vines, up to 37 years, contributes to the exceptional quality of the grapes. Gentle pruning and the use of organic compost promote healthy growth.
The grapes are hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented for 21 days on the skins. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures for 16 months in 500-liter barrels (tonneaux), partially new and made from Leitha mountain oak, followed by another 6 months of bottle aging.
Optimal drinking temperature: 16 - 18 °C. This wine pairs excellently with game and wild mushroom dishes, dark meat, and aged hard cheese.
Grape variety: Blaufränkisch
Alc: 14.50%
