Krispel

In the midst of the Styrian volcanic land, nestled in the lush green of Southeast Styria, lies the Genussgut Krispel. For two generations, this family business has been producing exceptional wines and gourmet goods of the highest quality. With extensive experience and a close connection to nature, the Krispels strive to reflect pure regional flavors and the highest possible quality of life in their products.

Enjoyment, quality, a certain sense of well-being, and finding meaning in the whole—these are qualities that are in the Krispel family's genes. Toni Krispel laid the foundation, and his son took over and expanded it. Whether it's wine, Mangalitsa pork, or gourmet goods, the Krispel family remains unmistakable.

Our greatest asset is our soil and our environment. I have been aware of this since the beginning of my career as a winemaker. To support this, we have had ourselves certified as a sustainable business. "Sustainability Austria" is a seal of approval for sustainably produced wines. They are strictly tested and produced according to economic, ecological, and social criteria. But sustainability alone is not enough—that's why our own vineyards have also been certified organic since the 2023 harvest!

The commonality of all locations in the Krispel winery is basalt. But not only that: the Rosenberg has the highest limestone content in the middle of the slope, the Neusetzberg has up to five meters of the highest layer of basalt weathering soil on a limestone base, the Hochstrandl has a higher clay content and less red clay overlay.

The different slopes, orientations, and soils are suitable for different grape varieties.

The Muscat needs the Rosenberg, the Sauvignon Blanc can hardly choose between Hochstrandl and Neusetzberg, the Pinot Gris feels comfortable on the Hochstrandl, and the Pinot Blanc loves the sunsets on the Neusetzberg.
