Esterházy

Wine has always been a part of Esterhazy: the first records date back to 1652, and the records from our cellar go back to 1758 – which is why this number also adorns our logo.

In recent years, we have made numerous adjustments to realize our vision of authentic Leithaberg wines. We have been cultivating our vineyards organically for some time: since 2019, we have been officially in organic conversion, and this will be completed with the 2023 vintage. We use "gentle pruning" to ensure the best possible sap flow in the vines and work with valuable compost. We are also excited to soon harvest the first grapes from the newly planted "Pirichen" site near Oslip – its potential is promising! In the cellar, we increasingly use wood from our own forests and happily experiment with alternative containers and aging methods for our "project wines." Only grapes from our own vineyards are processed. All of this is done to enhance the expression of our wines: they should taste fresh and fruity, be powerful but not heavy, and combine excitement with drinking pleasure, whether enjoyed at the table or on their own. And although not all of us were born here, the region in which we live and work is the unifying element. This origin, our "Leithaberg DAC," is as dynamic as we are.

We cannot realize our vision of our origin, the much-quoted "terroir," without people with passion. Much has changed in recent years – we have supplemented our team with dedicated employees and thus laid the foundation for a successful future. Our managing director Frank Schindler, cellar master Robert Krammer from South Africa, and sales manager Wolfgang Hewarth all work together when it comes to sustainably cultivating our vineyards, questioning and redefining traditions and wine styles. We are proud of our history, but we have much more planned! We look forward to having you accompany us on our journey!
