Kristinus
Their vineyards are cultivated sustainably, with the utmost respect for nature. In order to showcase the true and most beautiful character of the terroir, all their wines are made from healthy, chemical-free clusters with minimal intervention.
Florian Zaruba took over the management of the Kristinus Estate in 2015, marking the beginning of a transformative change that rewrote everything.
After a few years of preparation, in 2018 they began the transition across the entire estate, encompassing 62 hectares of vineyards and 30 hectares of pastures and orchards. In 2022, they received the coveted Demeter certification, making them the largest biodynamic vineyard in Hungary today.
They are convinced that only nutrient-rich, humus-rich, living, and healthy soil can provide the best raw material. In all aspects of the estate's life, they strive to exist and work with the smallest possible ecological footprint - as part of nature.
Sustainability is placed at the forefront of every decision they make, even in small details like choosing the weight of the bottle, using renewable energy sources, baking homemade sourdough bread, or eliminating single-use plastics.
"For us, this place is the centre of the world, much more than just the vineyard that provides our wines. We want to give back as much as possible of what we receive from it, which is why sustainability, organic, and biodynamic cultivation are the foundation of everything we do."
