Herosus is a Blaufränkisch Reserve that reflects the remarkable potential of Neckenmarkt’s soils, already valued for viticulture in Roman times. Shaped by the mild climate of the Mittelburgenland, the wine combines power and mineral depth with balance and finesse. The oak influence remains subtle, allowing the natural richness of the wine to take centre stage.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby garnet colour. The nose is marked by ripe blackberry aromas, complemented by refined notes from elegant barrique ageing. On the palate, ripe tannins, a perceptible yet well-integrated extract sweetness and harmonious structure unfold, leading to a long finish and excellent ageing potential.
Harvested by hand at the end of October and carefully selected, the wine underwent fermentation with a three-week maceration, followed by ageing on fine lees. It then matured for around 14 months in French barriques, approximately 30% new oak and the remainder in second- and third-fill barrels.
Pairs well with braised or roasted red meat and game dishes, as well as with hearty plant-based cuisine such as oven-roasted root vegetables, lentil-based dishes or grilled mushrooms with herbs.
Recommended serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
