Vineyard Background
The Egerszólát vineyard is named after the Virgin Mary. In 2007, the St. Andrea Winery erected a statue in her honour. The wine originates from cooler sites with shallow, clay-influenced soils. These conditions are reflected in aromas of white-petalled flowers and wet stone, leading to a distinctive, slightly saline finish on the palate.
Score
James Suckling: 94 points
Tasting Note
A rich and expressive white wine from the Grand Cru site of Nagy-Eged-hegy. The nose reveals tropical fruit aromas of mango, pineapple and lime, complemented by ripe peach and a touch of chalky minerality. On the palate, flavours of kumquat and peach are joined by a subtle salinity, harmoniously integrated with fine oak spice. The finish is long and elegant, supported by vibrant acidity.
