MSV stands for Mérész Sándor Vision — the personal vision of Etyeki Kúria's head winemaker: a Pinot Gris vinified not as a white wine, but with 14 days of skin contact, following the logic of red winemaking. Bold, robust, characterful.
From the Nagy-Látó-hegy vineyard, on deep brown forest soil with a limestone subsoil, from vines planted in 2007 at a yield of 20 hl/ha. After hand-harvesting and destemming, 14 days of skin maceration aided by pumping over, then 10 months of ageing in an old 2000-litre Hungarian oak cask and new 300-litre Hungarian barrels.
Pale brick-orange colour. Bright lemon and rose pepper open, followed by ripe mandarin, grapefruit and orange. Behind the fruit, almond and peach blossom appear, complemented by cinnamon. On the palate, orange flavours, a slight saltiness and almond in the background. A pleasantly bitter finish.
Pairs well with poultry or pork dishes prepared with Asian spices, and desserts with orange, pomegranate and caramel. Vegan pairing: roasted squash with miso glaze and sesame.
