Riesling Julia Ried Hackenberg 2021
Riesling Julia Ried Hackenberg 2021
Elegant and refined, with a cool fruit expression, precise, subtle stone fruit notes, and a hint of orange, showing many facets.
Palate: Perfect acidity, pure Riesling, reminiscent of wines from Rheinhessen, bone dry yet juicy, ripe apricot, long-lasting finish, and will improve further with bottle aging.
Vineyard: Ried Hackenberg is located on the climate-favored south slope of the approximately 300-meter-high Hackenberg, surrounded by the Arbesbach and Krottenbach streams in the Sievering district of the 19th Viennese district Döbling. The surface of the vineyard is heavily interspersed with marine sands, limestones, and gravels, allowing the vines to root deeply and favor the ripening of aromatic, complex grapes. The name Hackenberg is believed to derive from an old field measure named "Haken" or "Hacken."
Vinification: The handpicked, carefully selected grapes were brought to the whole cluster press. The must, along with intact whole berries, was then placed in a stainless steel tank for spontaneous fermentation. The wine remained on the fine lees for a year.
