Cserszegi Fűszeres is one of Hungary’s most distinctive aromatic grape varieties. Created in 1960 by Hungarian vine breeder Károly Bakonyi, it is a crossing of Irsai Olivér and Red Traminer (Gewürztraminer). The name translates roughly as “the spicy one from Cserszeg,” a wine-growing village near Lake Balaton. The variety is valued for its expressive aromatics, floral character and vibrant freshness.
Produced by Kancellár Birtok in the Somló wine region, this Frizzante showcases the variety’s aromatic intensity while complementing it with fine bubbles and an elegant sparkling character.
In the glass, it displays a pale yellow colour. The nose offers aromas of pineapple, tropical fruits, elderflower, citrus and fresh table grapes. Fine, persistent bubbles enhance the wine’s aromatic profile and contribute to its vibrant, youthful personality.
On the palate, it is light and refreshing, yet supported by a creamy texture and subtle mineral notes. Bright acidity brings energy and balance, while the gentle residual sweetness complements the expressive fruit character. The finish is long, clean and invigorating.
An excellent companion to light starters, summer salads, mildly spiced Asian dishes and soft cheeses. As a vegan pairing, it works particularly well with a mango and cucumber salad finished with fresh herbs.
