Terroir Selection Furmint 2021
2021 was such a perfect vintage that single-vineyard Furmint was produced from each of our four historic first-class vineyards: Pető, Meszes, Kővágó, and Szarvas. Since our head winemaker, Károly Áts, and his team made the four wines in the same way, the only differences between them are the soil and microclimate of each vineyard – easily recognizable and exciting. The four wines are now available together in a special gift box.
TERROIR SELECTION MESZES FURMINT DRY 2021
The Meszes vineyard, located on the southeastern outskirts of Erdőbénye, has colorful and rich soil. Its clusters were hand-picked in October at full ripeness, then, after destemming, the ripe berries were placed in the press. After gentle pressing and gravity settling of the must, it was inoculated and fermented in barrels, and aged for one year in 500-liter new barrels. A warm, sunny vintage, perfectly ripe, botrytis-free fruit, resulting in a rich, multifaceted wine. Its acids balance 8 grams of natural residual sugar, made even more complex by fine mineral notes and pleasant, unobtrusive oak. Flavors of juicy grapes, ripe flat peaches, and wildflowers.

TERROIR SELECTION KŐVÁGÓ FURMINT DRY 2021
A hot but balanced vintage, this single-vineyard premium Furmint from the volcanic soil of the Kővágó vineyard in Mád was made from hand-picked clusters. After gentle pressing, it was inoculated and fermented in new 500-liter Zemplén oak barrels. The wine aged for 9 months on fine lees in Trust barrels from the wine region before rounding out in the bottle. A long, vibrant acidity, rich-flavored Furmint with the floral and white-fruit notes of the variety, and the fine minerality of the diverse Mád terroir. Its complex acids are beautifully balanced with a bit of natural residual sugar and the oak and mineral notes that appear at the end of the sip.

TERROIR SELECTION PETŐ FURMINT DRY 2021
One of the most exciting members of our single-vineyard Furmints, from the Pető vineyard with southeastern exposure and volcanic soil, located between Tolcsva and Erdőbénye. Made from various Furmint clones and the harvest of traditional staked vineyards on the hilltop. Gentle pressing at low pressure, new barrel fermentation, and aging. Floral, enticing aroma with a bit of oak and mineral notes in the background. Despite the warm vintage, it has taut acids, a long, ripe sip with fine white-fleshed peach and grape flavors. A friendly, pleasant single-vineyard wine in perfect bottle maturity.

TERROIR SELECTION SZARVAS FURMINT DRY 2021
An exceptional vineyard site on the southernmost slope of Tokaj Hill, with loess soil on black dacite. A sunny, steep hillside overlooking the Great Plain, hand-picked, gentle pressing, barrel fermentation, and aging. A surprising taut acid structure from loess soil, made elegant and balanced by nearly 7 grams of sugar. Its aroma is full of wildflowers, a bit of acacia, and pear. The taste is full of fruit: peach, fresh pear, juicy summer apple. Long finish, fine oakiness, roasted aromas, and of course, the lovely fruitiness throughout the sip.
