Wine, Garden, Love and Carnuntum

An Unforgettable Evening at the Vino Vista Garden Club in Carnuntum

Last Thursday, I found myself in Carnuntum at the Vino Vista Garden Club, enjoying a delightful evening at the Franc Von Grün restaurant. This annual event is organized by a dedicated group of local female winemakers who have taken it upon themselves to promote and develop the Carnuntum wine region. These passionate women are committed to reviving the area and putting it on the map by showcasing the traditional wine culture in a contemporary setting.

Before heading to the event, I decided to make the trip even more exciting with a little motorcycle tour. I rented a bike from the BMW Motorrad Zentrum in Vienna since I had never explored this region before. The ride took me through charming villages and small towns, full of beautiful old buildings and sights that left a lasting impression. I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of this stunning area.

Upon arriving at the venue, I was greeted by a small sign inviting me to head upstairs. As I climbed the steps, the garden gradually came into view, revealing beautifully set tables, lively conversations among happy guests, and the enticing aroma of freshly grilled food filling the air. Right from the start, I could sense that this would be a special evening.

At the bar, I opted for a refreshing non-alcoholic Aperol Spritz – the range of cocktails, soft drinks, and wines was impressive – and then took a leisurely stroll around the garden, admiring the surroundings. The view of the landscape and the relaxed atmosphere were simply breathtaking.

Later in the evening, I caught up with one of the hosts, Karoline Taferner. Her wines have recently joined our selection, and each bottle embodies the authentic spirit of Carnuntum. We chatted briefly about business, but the lively music, the joyful crowd, and the excellent wines quickly steered the conversation in a more laid-back direction. It was the perfect night to unwind before the busy harvest season kicks off.

The Franc Von Grün restaurant provided the ideal setting for this unique event with its combination of exquisite food and warm hospitality. The blend of regional wines and the great camaraderie among the local winemakers created a truly memorable experience. Also worth mentioning are the other wineries that are part of the Vino Vista Garden Club, such as Böheim and Gotthschully-Grassl, who also stand out for their quality and commitment to the region.

As the evening came to an end, I was left with a deep appreciation for the passion and community spirit that is so evident in Carnuntum. This region not only offers outstanding wines but also people who genuinely love their craft and share it with visitors from all over the world. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to this charming area and to diving even deeper into the world of Carnuntum wines.
